First Time at the Masters Golf Tournament
Heading to the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta for the first time is an experience unlike any other. From the lush green fairways to the iconic blooming azaleas, every corner of the course is a sight to behold. Walking through Amen Corner or witnessing a player sink a clutch putt on the back nine is truly awe-inspiring.
The sense of tradition and history that permeates the event is palpable. No matter how much time you dedicate to the course or exploring the city of Augusta, our tips will help you maximize your experience in the Garden City.
On the Course
- Bring Your Own Chair
- Keep in mind that there are no seats available on the course. If you want to relax and watch the events, you are encouraged to bring your own collapsible chair. We recommend arriving early to secure your preferred spot at any hole you choose.
- Souvenir Shopping
- It's important to plan your souvenir shopping wisely. To avoid carrying items around all day or missing out on something you want by visiting the gift shops too late, aim to make your purchases early in the week. This gives you the best chance to find the merchandise you’re looking for. If you’re traveling from afar, consider mailing your items home to lighten your load.
- Cell Phones Are Prohibited!
- Believe it or not, cell phones and cameras are not permitted during the tournament rounds. However, there are payphones available on-site if you need to contact someone outside the event. If you want to take a photo to remember your time at Augusta National, you can do so at the designated photo spot with the magnolias, Masters logo, and clubhouse in the background.
- Pairings Sheet
- Since you won’t have your phone on hand to simply Google anything, you’ll need a pairings sheet. This sheet will provide you with tee times and details on how the golfers are paired for the day. To keep up with the day's events, be sure to pick one up as you enter.
Off the Course
If you’re wanting to spend time off the course and exploring the city of Augusta, you’re in luck. The city is home to a plethora of locally owned shops, restaurants, and breweries where you can find unique gifts, delicious food, and handcrafted beers. One of the highlights at the tournament is Augusta's renowned pimento cheese sandwiches, a must-try! The city boasts an impressive array of dining options that will delight your palate.
